How To Choose A Web Designer

With so many web designers to choose from, how will you find the one that is right for you? Here are some guidelines to help you narrow down your choices, and choose the best web designer for your needs.

Do You Like Their Work?

Take a look at the web designer’s portfolio, and view websites that the the web designer built for other clients. Do you like what you see? If so, then you know the web designer has the skills to build a great website for you as well. If not, then look elsewhere since odds are that they will not be able to design a website that you like.

How Much Do They Charge?

Determine your budget, and then look for web designers that work in that price range. As discussed separately, web design costs can vary considerably. So you’ll want to consider only those web design companies that can meet your budget. Even if they do great work, there is little reason to evaluate a web design company that charges well beyond your budget.

Can They Complete It On Time?

Make sure the web designer can complete your website on time. Many designers are very busy and cannot get to your project for many weeks. Others may have an open schedule or more resources, and can start work right away. Make sure your web designer gives you a completion date, and always get it in writing!

How Good Is Their Customer Service?

When you are evaluating web designers, pay close attention to their customer service from the very start. How quickly did they return your initial inquiry? Did they provide a proposal in a reasonable amount of time? How they treat you now is likely a good indication of how they will treat you during a project. If you see any warning signs, then look elsewhere.

Choosing a web designer can seem daunting, but by following some basic guidelines you can quickly find the most qualified candidates. Prior to making any decision, be sure to ask for references.
